MSI Joins the Bandwagon: Motherboards with Power Connectors on Backside of the Board

Are you tired of the cable clutter inside your PC? You’re not alone. Cable management can be a daunting task, especially if you have a PC with a window. But fret not, as major motherboard manufacturers are coming up with innovative solutions to address this problem.

Last year, Gigabyte introduced the Z690 Aorus Elite Stealth motherboard with all connectors relocated to the backside. This design decision resulted in a cleaner and more organized look. Asus recently followed suit and launched a similar product. Now, MSI joins the bandwagon with the B650 DIY-APE motherboard.

While this innovation may not completely solve the cable management problem, it’s a step in the right direction. Connecting cables to the rear side of the motherboard is much easier and results in a cleaner look. Hopefully, this trend catches on, and more manufacturers will start implementing this design decision.

Of course, this design decision also requires case manufacturers to make corresponding changes. They need to provide appropriate openings in the case wall for the rear ports. Additionally, standardizing the position of the ports would be beneficial, as it’s currently not the case.

To further simplify cable management, it would be great if power supply or motherboard manufacturers started using angled cables or ports. This design would reduce the protrusion of wires and save space.

What do you think of the rear ports on motherboards? Do you consider it a great innovation or prefer the traditional cable management? Let us know your thoughts.
